et Airways Indias second-largest airline has confirmed the deal in a brief stock exchange disclosure that they have ordered 75 B737 MAX .

The new deal is in addition to a previous order for a similar number of 737 Max 8s - a mix of firm orders and purchase rights - that was announced at the 2015 Dubai air show.

Fleet Flights Analyzer indicates however that orders for 21 737 Max 8s were cancelled at the end of 2017. Boeing's orders and deliveries website shows that at the end of February Jet's outstanding 737 Max 8 orders stood at 54 aircraft.

Based on Boeing’s list prices, the deal could be worth between $7.2 billion and $9.7 billion depending on which 737 MAX variants the airline chooses. Airlines usually get significant discounts from manufacturers though, bringing costs well below list prices.

The 737 MAX can seat between 130 and 230 passengers, depending on the variant.

Boeing said in July that it is expected that Indian airlines order up to 2,100 aircraft worth $290 billion over the next 20 years, calling it the highest-ever forecast for Asia's third-largest economy.

Domestic passenger traffic increased 17.9% in January from a year earlier for the 41st consecutive month of double-digit growth, according to data from the International Air Transport Association.
